"Escalating Violence: Strategies and Mechanisms for Confrontation"
Nablus
As part of the efforts made by the Enlightenment Forum/Women's Support Center aimed at combating social violence and bullying in schools, a dialogue meeting titled "Escalating Violence: Strategies and Mechanisms for Confrontation" was held at the Women's Support Center. The meeting was attended by numerous representatives of institutions active in women's, children's, and community issues, religious, legal, and media figures, and a representative from the Nablus Police Directorate.
The participants emphasized the importance of restoring the true understanding of Islam and noted that maintaining the family starts with spouses understanding their rights and duties. They highlighted the significant role of women in society and the achievements gained through their struggle, stressing the importance of preserving and building on these gains and clarifying the importance of laws, especially the Family Protection Law.
Participants pointed out the importance of targeting youth and raising awareness through schools, clubs, mosques, and even home visits. They called for the inclusion of awareness topics in curricula or during leisure times. Some stressed the importance of coordination and networking with all institutions, focusing on information exchange and relying on such data as a dependable resource.
The role of the media was also discussed, emphasizing its supportive and reinforcing role in addressing women's issues and their societal role, and underlining the importance of media involvement in these efforts.Regarding children, there was consensus on the need to keep children out of family conflicts, provide them with safe spaces for psychological relief, and activate monitoring of harmful behaviors that could negatively impact their future.
As for the activities of institutions, some suggested avoiding repetitive training that does not yield positive results, as it often takes the form of standard training. Instead, it is preferable to adopt methods and tools that contribute to offering new approaches, even if this requires training trainers in modern techniques. Institutions should agree to divide roles according to needs and the nature of the location.
In conclusion, all participants emphasized the importance of ongoing communication and considered this meeting a prelude to broader future meetings aimed at building strategies that can achieve much in confronting violence, building healthy families, and ensuring a safe future for our children.
