The International Day of Innocent Children
The International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, is a United Nations global observance held on June 4th. It was established on August 19, 1982, initially focusing on the victims of the 1982 Lebanon War, and has since expanded its objective to "acknowledge the pain suffered by children worldwide who are victims of physical, mental, and emotional abuse."
In a symbolic initiative to commemorate this day, the Enlightenment Forum organized an activity that featured rubble from which children's hands emerged, as if they were crying out to the world to pay attention to them and stop the aggression against them. Participants sent a message to the international bodies that adopted this day in 1982, urging them to play their role and uphold their resolutions to stop aggression and protect children. Participants also held up images bearing messages that called on the world to stand up for justice.
